I’m Mark Stothard – a Practice-led Audio, Visual Researcher, Writer and Educator with over 30 years of professional experience behind the lens. Holding a Master’s degree in Photography and the distinction of Associate from the Royal Photographic Society, my work is driven by a deep commitment to capturing authentic narratives—those fleeting, emotive, and sometimes overlooked moments that define our shared human experience.

My career spans a diverse spectrum of photographic genres, from landscapes and street photography to editorial commissions and fine art. I’ve had the privilege of not only working commercially but also mentoring others, leading workshops, and exhibiting work that speaks to themes of memory, place, and transformation. One of my most notable features was being invited to speak at the Imagining Tourists and Tourism symposium in Paris, 2024, where we discussed our research, “Imagining Millbay Residency: A Meta-Fiction and Narrative Story Using Dialogue Journaling“.

Now in semi-retirement, I’m embracing a new chapter – one that fuses legacy with innovation. I produce and license high-quality digital content for creatives, publishers, and brands, offering both physical prints and downloadable assets. My online stores reflect this dual focus:

My current work is deeply personal and poetic, influenced by the creative legacies of photographers and accademics like Robert Frank, Richard Misrach, Simon Standing, Carole Baker, Liz Wells and Charles Mansfield. My recent projects take the form of journal-style zines and photo books-visual essays that delve into urban streets, natural landscapes, and the rhythms of everyday life, exploring the interplay of light, sound, and atmosphere.

Whether you’re here to collect, license, or simply explore, thank you for visiting. I invite you to walk through the images and narratives that continue to shape my journey.
