Description

Step into a landscape where past and present converge.

This limited-edition photography zine presents a haunting visual journey across the tank tracks of North Hill, Minehead, Somerset — a site once marked by the grinding weight of World War II training, now softened by time, wind, and wildflowers. Captured from 2020, these photographs explore the ghostly imprints left upon the land: the deep scars in the earth where tanks once clawed their way forward, the grassy slopes that once echoed with the thunder of engines, the quiet watchfulness of nature reclaiming what was once a stage for war.

But this is no mere documentary. Echoes on North Hill invites you to step inside the imagined emotional world of a World War II soldier — a fictional figure, shaped from historical echoes and human truths — a young man in the 1940s, torn between duty and conscience, between the love of the living world and the brutal task of learning to destroy it. Through poetic fragments and reflective prose, the zine gives voice to this imagined presence: his awe before the beauty of the landscape, his dread of the machine he must master, his inner conflict as he walks the line between obedience and sorrow.

The images and words together create a layered meditation on landscape, memory, and human frailty. Each photograph is a quiet witness, each caption a whisper from the past.
